Jeffersonians

  1. INTRODUCTION

The Jeffersonians are composed of three presidents, James Madison (the fourth president of United States), Thomas Jefferson (third president of United States), and James Monroe (fifth president of the United States). Thomas Jefferson was born in April 2 1743 in Shaywell, Virginia and died on July 1826 was a draftsman of the United States, the first secretary from 1789 to 1794, second vice president from 1797 to 1801 and served as third president of the United States of America from 1801 to 1809.

His father had a prosperous piece of land and Thomas did not live in a poor or rich family but still had a good education and childhood. He first studied at the college of William and Mary in the state of Virginia, and later started studying law under George Wythe. Afterwards, he met women called Martha Skelton, he later married. He had 11 children in overall and not all of his children were gave birth by Martha because he also had kids with Heming.

James Madison also known as the father of the constitution was born on March 16 1751 in Port Conway Virginia and died on June 28, 1836 at the Montpelier estate in Orange County, Virginia. He was the third vice president and served as fourth president of the United States from 1809 to 1817 after the presidency of Thomas Jefferson.  He is one of my favorite founding fathers because he is the one who wrote the bill of rights and it is one of my favorite lessons on social studies

James Madison also had a great education. He was first home schooled because his father was concerned of his health because he would be ill throughout his life frequently but after two years, James Madison studied at Princeton University in New Jersey. He met women called Dolly Todd and had one child with he called John Payne Todd. James Madison also wrote, or perhaps gave the model for the constitution. That is why he is called the father of constitution.

James Monroe, born on April 28 1758 in Westmoreland county Virginia and died on July 4 1831 in New York City…  He was the last of the founding fathers and the last of the Virginia lineage (all 5 first presidents were from Virginia!). He served as 5th president of the United States of America from 1817 to 1825 but was a secretary when James Madison was in power from 1811 to 1817.

James Monroe lived in Westmoreland Virginia with his mother Elizabeth Jones Monroe and his father Spence Monroe who was prosperous planter and carpenter who immigrated from Scotland in mid 1600s (biography). He studies at William and Mary College from 1774 to 1776 just like Thomas Jefferson. He also studied law under George Washington (first president of the United States. He married a women called Elizabeth Jane and had five children with her called Eliza Monroe Hay, James Spence Monroe, Eliza Kortright Monroe, Maria Hester Monroe, and Eliza Kortright Monroe Hay.

  1. SEPARATE ACCOMPLISHMENTS

  1. Thomas Jefferson

Thomas Jefferson’s main accomplishment in my opinion is that he wrote the declaration of independence (and many people will agree on my statement). He is the one who drafted the declaration of independence in which as you know was a very important document and “the summary writes a British America that justified the right of Americans to be self – governing” (Professor Thomas Buckley Loyola Marymount University).  United States was the first country to declare its independence from its colonizing power so his draft became an example to countries colonized and not colonized for many centuries.

The very great ambition from our good old President Thomas Jefferson was . He wanted the population to not depend a lot on each other. For that not to happen he had to make them work for themselves and he found a very great plan. He had to enlarge the nation so that all the citizens can a slightly equal amount of land so that they can earn money and food from themselves.

Thomas Jefferson is such a great president and is surely the best of his time because made the life of the American citizens’ better and that led to people immigrating to America. Jefferson had the biggest ambitions out of all the founding fathers concerning the nation’s problems and he intended to fix them as fast as possible. He has a great thinking ability and he is a very great person concerning literature.

  1. James Madison

James Madison maybe did not influence as much as Thomas Jefferson but he sure did influence the change of the constitution that is why many people call him the father of the constitution. There are very strong and great ideas James Madison came up with to form a great nation such as the Virginia plan which proposed a central government composed of three branches unlike a monarchy which are the legislative, the executive and the judicial branch.

England was weary and they agreed to negotiate. Before the news came to America, a                       crucial war was won. The war was the battle of New Orleans very encouraging for the Americans before they heard the war was over. They signed the treaty of Ghent which was beneficial for both sides although it was even more for the Americans.  Of course  the American troops gained experience from the battle and they learnt a few lessons from it.

It was a very great act from James Madison. He proved that he had what it takes to be a correct and dignified president. James Madison served for two terms as the United States President. Although he had bad encounters during his presidency, he became respected all around the country. He was judged as a high thinker and a communicator. After his mandate, he was still involved in civic cases and after became a rector in the University of Virginia.

  1. James Monroe

James Monroe’s major accomplishment in all I have learnt so far is that he survived the battle in Trenton after he was severely wounded and was saved from bleeding to death by a young doctor named John Riker. The most astonishing fact about him surviving during the battle at Trenton was that he was only 18 in those days and was already a lieutenant. He was also the last of the founding fathers to survive.

The north was tired of slavery while the south wanted it to be a slave state, so there was an arrangement in which the states who wanted to be slave states stay as slave states and the states who wanted the contrary would change as a free state. Even though Monroe thought the constitutional congress did not have the right to do it, he signed the contract to prevent a civil war while the nation was growing and it worked, until Abraham Lincoln’s time. (HISTORY)

James Monroe was really impactful, even though he was not as much as the other two Jeffersonians.  He retired from Virginia and left office, after he did a very great or even outstanding work. He was crucial in preventing a civil war although after a good time, civil war broke.

Accomplishments on American Democracy

  1. Thomas Jefferson

Thomas Jefferson’s point of view in a free America was not the same as many presidents and his impact on American democracy was very large. In those days he had a vision of a powerful and independent America. He intended to enlarge America so that the citizens could be free and dependent on themselves. For that, he had to possess more land so that when he

b) James Madison

In James Madison’s time as chief executive of the United States of America, there was a few difficulties for Americans to travel over sea as the sailors were took from Britain and France to work for them and that was something James Madison could not tolerate as President so he declared war to Britain all though they were not ready for one as the government did not set up a correct militia. Although the war was not at their advantage, Madison managed to sign a treaty with England ending the war and that improved their finance and trade value (HISTORY)

c) James Monroe

When James Monroe was president, it was during the era of good feeling which meant that Americans were very confident about the war and their victories against Britain during James Madison’s presidency. The only problem was that the relation between Spain was getting worse and Monroe had to do something about it but a very important issue in Monroe’s presidency was slavery.
